The Horn Up rechargeable dehorner is powered by the latest technology, with a NiMh battery controlled by a microprocessor which manages the temperature of the wire and the cycle time ensuring safe and successful dehorning of livestock. The battery on a full charge allows for approx 80 cycles (40 animals).
The dehorning procedure is a follows:
- insert the heating element of the dehorner onto the base of the bud
- press the ON button holding down the button until complete
- 3 short beeps will indicate the cycle has started, rotate the dehorner about 45 degrees several times ensuring a regular circle
- several short beeps after about 7 seconds will indicate the operation is complete, release the ON button and the dehorning is complete
- repeat on other bud
Dehorning should be carried out on livestock under 4 weeks of age, dehorning can take place as soon as the bud can be felt. After dehorning with the Horn Up you will see a circular burn mark 4mm to 5mm wide which ensures the horn will not grow again. Once dehorned, spray the area using a disinfectant spray. This will cool the wound and prevent infection.
The cost of the Horn Up rechargeable dehorner is £216.00 + vat.
Included in the package is Horn Up dehorner, Battery Charger (6.0V/1A), User Manual and Hex Key (for head removal).
The Horn Up is relatively new to the market and is proving very successful on the website and in store.
